SPANGLISH KWEEN

My experience learning English at the university was very different in relation with my school experience. In my school, my homework was principally focused on reading and listening, but writing and especially talking were topics that I barely saw. In this case, my experience learning English at the university has been more focused in writing, for example we write blogs every week so we are constantly work in improving our ability of writing (coherence, connection, vocabulary, etc.)

Personally, I love blogs. I used to write a lot before the university, but now I have a lot of things to do in my classes, so it’s time consuming . As a result, now I barely write except for my homework, so personally the blogs in English classes have been useful to me for clearing my mind and giving me the opportunity to write about my opinions and my life. But, I would really like if the themes were freer or made more debatable about controversial topics.

I really need to improve my oral abilities. I’m good at listening, I could watch youtubers without subtitles, understand the song lyrics and among other things. Respect to my ability for reading I’m pretty good, because I can read subtitles in English, I also read Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows in English, and it’s not that difficult to me reading things in English, obviously sometimes I have problems with the vocabulary, but I’m getting better in this area. Thanks to the blogs I guess that I improved my ability for writing, but I’m not really sure. Finally, my abilities for talking are really bad, I’m really shy with that, and I got nervous every time that I have to talk in English without reading, it’s very hard for me.

But even if I had some troubles with my English, I’m capable of keeping a conversation with an English speaker, (I guess). Also, my English abilities allow me to understand papers in English and  most important, they are useful for understanding memes hahaha.  

My opinion

What is your opinion about women in the military?

I think women shouldn’t have presence in the armed forces, not because they aren’t capable of being a good soldier, it’s just that I don’t think that military is something good. Having a group of people trained to “defend our country” even if that involves killing people, I think that it’s just cruel, stupid, and patriarchal.  When women want a society more equal, we aren't expecting to be the same as men, we just want to smash the patriarchy and the entire system that come with it, like the army.

What is your opinion about killing stray dogs to prevent sanitary problems and animal over population?

Killing animal is wrong!, not just stray dogs, I think that is inconsistent to be against the murderer of stray dogs while you are eating animals and supporting the livestock industry that is guilty of the most contaminant industry in the world, more than cars, more than airplanes. People aren’t killing persons because the overpopulation, so I think it’s speciesist.

What is your opinion about recycling?

Recycling is not enough if we are talking about climate change and the care of environmental issues.  Obviously, every little support helps to take care of the environmental, but it’s not enough, there are animals dying every day, there are trees being cut down, there are people dying because climate change, each winter season is colder, and the summer is turning hotter. So, I think that besides recycling, everyone should become vegan, reuse and reduce the garbage!, I think that these things are maybe more effective than recycling, because if you produce less trash, and reuse there wouldn't be need of recycling. =)

What is your opinion about legalizing abortion in some cases?

First of all, I stand up for the decriminalization of abortion instead of legalizing abortion, I think that every woman should have the choice to get an abortion but not necessarly in the hospital, because with the correct medicine the abortion is safe and women could do it in their houses with their friends. Besides, Abortion should be decriminalized for all the cases, and no matter in what week it is.

Orchestra

If we start talking about sport, I don’t have a lot of things to say. I never was good in sports, it’s not my cup of tea, besides sports never liked me. I always refuse to  the idea of learn any sports, I think they are boring, but if I have to name sports that I’m interested, probably I would say tenis or ping pong, because I really like to play them, obviously in an amateur way. I don’t know if it counts, but I really love playing taca-taca and chess, I’m really good in both but since I left school, I don’t play them. So, I guess I prefer to talk about a leisure activity.

In 2015 with my friend, decided to join us to the orchestra of my school. My friends took classes of violin or viola, I personally preferred Violoncello. I really like this instrument because I think that it has a perfect tone, Cello could reach a lot of notes; it could play shrill and deep notes; this make that Violoncello was my first option.

I was part of Providencia’s orchestra, and I went to the orchestra every Saturday during 3 years. I had Violoncello classes at the morning, and then I had rehearsal with all the orchestra. It was a string orchestra, so there were violins, violas, violoncellos and contrabass. My teacher of violoncello was Fernanda Guerra, she is a very good cellist and teacher, she taught me most of the things I know about Violoncello and reading scores. Also I learnt so much with my boss row (the boss row is the person with more talent and knowledge about an instrument of the orchestra, so there was a boss row of violin, viola, contrabass and in my case violoncello, also the boss row is in charge of the organization and coordination of all the row) her name was Valentina Palomino, she play the cello since 2012, and now she study Violoncello at the Universidad de Chile, I love her, I think she’s a very good person and very talented women, I admire her so much. Also, she is part of a band called “Narval Orquesta”, and they’re going to show their music to Germany, I’m so glad for her!

Sadly, I had to left Orchestra because in 2017 I didn’t have a lot of time because I had to take a preuniversitario, it was a really hard decision to me because I really enjoy playing the Violoncello. In the last time, I’ve been thinking about taking a CFG of strings instrument, but I’m not really sure if I want this, because I lost the practice. I would like to go back on time and still being in orchestra, I was really happy there and also orchestra gives me the opportunity to know a lot of nice people.

Please don't ask me about future.

At the moment, I at study sociology in Universidad de Chile so now I’m focused on finishing the pregrade, instead of thinking about future studies. But, if you ask me what course I consider taking in the future, I’d probably chose a postgraduate related to studies of gender.

When I was at school, I’ve started to show interest in feminism and since then, I really enjoy reading about feminist theory, studies and inquiries about gender and mechanism of violence that affected and affects women. As it doesn’t exist a career dedicated specifically to studies of gender, I decided to study a major that involved social science that allowed me and gave me some abilities that could help me for studing subject related to gender and similar content.

In my postgrade, I’d really like to learn about all the feminist theories and trends, besides I’d really enjoy have knowledge of how to make studies about gender violence, and this stuff. This course I'd prefer that it were abroad, hopefully in some country with a different language, because I’d really like to learn another language or have better English.  

I think that I’d prefer a course that involves on site classes, because I guess that I’d be so lazy if I take a course online jajaja.  

That is the response I’d probably say if someone asks me what course I consider taking in the future, but in fact I’m not sure if this is what I want in my life, because it’s so soon to think about that, the future scares me a little. Also, I think that I’d really enjoy taking cooking classes, obviously a vegan one and focused on weet food, so I could make some greats recipes, like cakes, candies, brownies, etc.

Trapperzzzz

My favorite music style was always pop. Since I was a little girl I remember myself listening to pop groups and artists, like Miranda, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Marina and the Diamonds, among others. But, in the last months I’ve been really close to trap music, so I guess that today I’m probably going to talk about trap, because I’m a little obsessed.

I started to listened to trap music in 2017, and the first time that I listened to a song of Kendrick Lamar it was because my classmate sang DNA all day long. I knew a few songs of Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Cardi B and offset, but at this time I didn’t know what trap was, I just thought they were kinda rappers or something.

 Until I knew one of my favorite trap singers, Bad Bunny, with him I learned what trap was, and I really started to listen to a lot of his songs, Soy Peor, Krippy Kush, Ya Me Acostumbré, etc. When He was at Festival de Viña, I wanted to go there to see him, but sadly I didn’t have the money. Then, I knew trap Chilean singers, like Princesa Alba, Polimá Westcoast, Young Cister and Pablo Chill-e, and I went to a concert the last summer.(For more info go to the entrance “Upgrade Fest: The best day of my life.”)

I think that I like trap because the trap beats are really interesting and catchy. Also, I like the progress in the trap singers, with less racist and sexist lyrics.

In another moment I will tell you my past with clasic music jaja keep on watching. :)

During the course of my life I have had 4 pets; 2 dogs and 2 turtles. At the moment, I have a dog and his name is Simón, but we also call him “Simoncito”, “Shimonchito”, “Chito”, “Peritotito”, etc. Related to his appearance his size is standard, so he is neither small nor big, his fur is white and curly, he is very cute. A really funny fact, is that Chito loves bananas. He goes crazy every time I eat bananas, so I always share my fruits with him. 

Simón was adopted in 2009 when I was nine, so we are so close. He has been part of my life since I was a little girl, so we have grown together. We spend a lot of time together, so we do a lot of stuffs, we sleep, we eat, we rest, and we play. I don’t imagine my life without him.

Once in 2013 we lost Simón. He went outside and he got lost for a week, until my neighbor found him. He was so disoriented and scared, and when he saw us he cried. This was the worst week of my life.

I really love animals, especially dogs, I think that they’re so cute and loyal. Thinking about homeless dogs it makes me feel really sad considering that there are so many people buying pets without thinking of adopting them as an option L

Upgrade Festival: The best day of my life.

In the past summer, January to be exactly, I went to the best concert of my life, it was in Valparaíso, so I had to take a bus to went there.

It was a Trap Festival called “Upgrade Fest”, and the singers invited to the event were Princesa Alba, Gianluca, Young Cister, Polimá Westcoast, and last but not least Pablo Chill-e. They are Chilean trap singers, and all of them are very young, no more than 25, even Pablo Chill-e was 18 years old. I went to the concert especially to see, Young Cister and Princesa Alba, I knew the others artist too, but I get bored ‘cause I listened too much their music.

The event started late, the ticket said that the entrance was at 9pm and finally we were able to enter at 11pm. We lost part of the show of Princesa Alba, but this didn’t matter that much to me, because I reached to listen to “Summer Love”, my favorite song of hers. Then, Gianluca started to sing, his music is kind of sad, so it was a little bit depressing, but I liked it. Next, sang Young Cister with Polimá Westcoast, I love them. Lastly, I went to the back of the place to listen to Pablo Chill-e, because I knew just 2 songs.

Finally, in the Upgrade Fest I realized that I really enjoy trap, and I felt in love again with the artists that used to make me feel bored.  

A funny fact that I want to share with you is that like I said before I just knew like 2 songs of Pablo Chill-e and now is one of my favorite trap singers, so I’ll go to another trap festival on May 25th. This festival is called “Trap star”, and there will be performing Pablo Chill-e, Princesa Alba, Polimá Westcoast, Gianluca and Drefquila, I don’t like the last one but at least this festival will be in Santiago.

A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT

A country that I’d like to visit is Mexico. Mexico is part of Latin America and is located in North America, between USA and Guatemala.  The capital city is Ciudad de Mexico and is one of the most populous cities in the world.

I’d like to go to Mexico because this country has so much history to bring us related to Pre-Columbian cultures, especially Mayas’ and Aztecs’ civilization, so there are many  monuments that were built by these civilizations and so many places associated with them that I’d like to visit, like Chichén Itzá, Teotihuacán, Tlatelolco, etc. Also, in Mexico was the Mexican Revolution in 1910, and the Monument to the Revolution was built in Ciudad de Mexico, so I really like to go there.

A really fun fact is that one of the reasons because I’d like to go to Mexico is that I love spicy food, so I would probably be in love with Vegan Mexican food.

If I go to Mexico, I’d like to go as a visitor. I don’t imagine myself living for a long time in another country, even if I’d like to study outside, probably I would like to go to a place with another language
